Patients advised to use public transport to get to Queen’s Hospital as car park closes from July to September.
Queen’s car park will close from Saturday 20 July until mid September for essential improvement works. Blue badge parking and arrangements for cancer patients will be unaffected.
Please see a statement from BHRUT below:
Patients are strongly advised to use public transport to get to Queen’s Hospital while essential improvement works are carried out on our multi-storey car park.
This will take place from Saturday 20 July to mid-September. For the first three weeks, the car park will be closed and more than 1,100 spaces will be unavailable. It will then reopen in stages.
Blue badge parking and arrangements for cancer patients will be unaffected during the works. All other patients should travel by alternative means, such as using one of the eight bus routes that come into the hospital grounds.
Drop off points are available outside A&E, maternity and near to the hospital main entrance. If you are dropping off a patient and then wish to join them for their treatment, you will need to park elsewhere.
Work taking place will include resurfacing, addition of pedestrian walkways, and new lighting and doors.
More information about this and about how you can plan ahead to minimise disruption to your journey and treatment is available on our car parking page.
Sean Greene, our Director of Estates and Facilities, said: “We recognise that this essential upgrade to our car park will cause significant disruption to our patients, visitors and staff.
“Our message is clear: don’t drive to Queen’s Hospital if you can get in by other means.”
