Facial Recognition Technology goes live in Barking and Dagenham.
In the battle to remove criminals off our streets, Barking and Dagenham police began using Live Facial Recognition Technology on Tuesday 11 June.
Following its introduction, officers made nine arrests which included those wanted for theft, breaching sexual harm prevention orders and assault.
Neighbourhoods Superintendent David Rhodes said: “We’re committed to listening to community concerns and using Live Facial Recognition technology to remove harmful criminals from Barking and Dagenham.”
Local officers working as part of the deployment also arrested a further three people for theft and another person for a domestic offence.
