Everyday Creativity at The Mercury

The Mercury is a community focused shopping centre with an ethos of having more than just shopping occurring on the malls. The shopping centre hosts everything from film festivals, kids clubs, art exhibitions and varied events to ensure that our community have a place to go, socialise and have fun.

The Breakfast Club

No we’re not talking about the film but the iconic ‘Breakfast Club’ that meets weekly at The Mercury Shopping centre. The group meets on a Monday and is a place to ‘come together, try something new, knit, natter and do some good in the community’.

Held at The Mercury in the heart of Romford, the group meets at 10am – midday, attendees have a chance to paint, take part in crafts or enjoy a visit from an informative guest speaker.

Over the years the club has raised thousands of pounds for charities including St Francis Hospice and MacmillianCancer, held coffee mornings, cake sales and visited the local Queen’s Hospital to handover knitted items including baby blankets for the premature baby unit and knitted items for dementia patients, the group are inspiring and are a credit to the community.

Whether you’re a keen crafter, a novice painter or just looking for a chat, a cuppa or some company the Breakfast Club is open to all and free to attend with all materials for activities supplied.

Three Art Thursday

The Three Art Thursday club is ran by local artists and is a place for all ages to get into drawing and creativity. It is free to join and takes place on the third Thursday of the month between 2pm – 5.30pm. It starts with a calm watercolourclass and then turns into an after school drawing activity where families can draw together, using a range of materials. Whether you’re an artistic parent, you have a place to socialise and draw without the children being turned away, and if you have a creative child – they might just get you into drawing too! Open to all ages and abilities.

Marvin’s Great Create

Marvin’s Kids Club is a free craft and activity club aimed at children, which takes place one weekend a month. All the activities are free and are assisted by our friendly team. You don’t have to register in advance to join in the fun, just turn up on the day. Enjoy a host of fun activities or crafts, please note children need their parent or carer to stay with them for the duration of the club.
