Basketball, football and lots of enjoyment was the key to the day yesterday at Central Park in Harold Hill. Thanks to local police officers as part of the Clear Hold Build initiative, a special community day was organised where Primary and Secondary school children had the chance to play basketball and football all day free of charge.

The event was organised by PC Harley from the Harold Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team and Inspector Routley and saw ongoing two hour sports sessions of basketball and football throughout the day. The aim is to build a stronger community together and help local children have events during their school half term break.

The coaches at the event were -Leroy from Bad Thunder and Joe from Touch Sports LTD.

This was a fantastic day with excellent participation from local children who came out to join in the activities.

PC Harley told the Havering Daily: “Today is a great example of bringing the community together and working on a project that we are planning on continuing throughout the summer to help create opportunities for children to play a new sport or improve the skills they already have.

“A big thank you to the London Borough of Havering for the funding, Bad Thunder and Touch Sport LTD for providing all the coaches.”

Local community champion Jan Sargeant and Gooshayes Councillor Paul MGeary were also present to add their support to the day and even throw a ball around!
