Two dogs and four puppies die in maisonette fire.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a four-storey residential block of flats on Trowbridge Road in Romford.
Most of the second floor, part of the third floor, and half of the connecting stairway of a five-roomed maisonette was damaged by fire. There are no reports of any injuries. Sadly, six dogs died, and a further three dogs were taken to the vets by residents.
The Brigade was called at 7:50pm and the fire was under control by just after 9pm. Crews from Harold Hill, Romford, Hornchurch, and Dagenham Fire Station attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
