Substantive work to begin on Gallows Corner refurbishment scheme by March 2025
At London Mayor’s Question Time on 23 May, Sadiq Khan confirmed that the Government had awarded outline business case approval to the A127 Gallows Corner refurbishment scheme, and will be funding 85% of the project, with TfL funding the remaining 15%.
TfL will now work on a full business case to submit in Autumn, and can begin negotiating with contractors in anticipation of this business case being approved.
During his announcement, Sadiq Khan thanked Keith Prince AM of the City Hall Conservatives for the work he had done to help secure this funding.
Keith Prince, London Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge, said:
“I’m very pleased that the Government has awarded £57.3 million to this vital project in my constituency, with TfL agreeing to fund the remaining 15%. Residents will know that I have been lobbying for Gallows Corner to see some investment for a long time now, so it is exciting to see this finally pay off. I look forward to seeing the submission of the full business case in Autumn, and for work to then start by March 2025 as intended.”
