In an exclusive interview with the Havering Daily, Brock Whiston shares insights into her preparation and aspirations for the forthcoming swimming events at the Paralympic Games, which will be held from the 28th of August to the 8th of September.

Brock, a promising name in the realm of Paralympic swimming, eagerly anticipates her debut at the upcoming Paralympic Games. With the event scheduled from 28th August to 8th September, and swimming competitions commencing from 29th August to 7th September, Brock graciously shares her insights on the preparation and aspirations for the races ahead.

Amidst the anticipation, Brock awaits news of the events she’ll compete in, expressing hope for her specialty, the 100m breaststroke, where she holds the world record. “We haven’t been informed of the races yet, but I’m optimistic it aligns with the four I secured nomination times for,” she reveals.

Mindful of the delicate balance between pushing boundaries and avoiding overexertion, Brock stresses the importance of meticulous preparation. “Training will maintain the same frequency as before, but intensity is set to rise,” she explains. Despite the demanding regimen, Brock eagerly anticipates the forthcoming summer holidays, viewing it as an opportunity to rejuvenate and single-mindedly focus on her racing preparations.

Reflecting on her journey to the Paralympics, Brock acknowledges the hurdles she’s overcome, having missed out on previous opportunities like the Tokyo Paralympics and Commonwealth Games. Yet, this moment feels particularly poignant. “After missing out on the Tokyo Paralympics and Commonwealth Games, this opportunity feels incredibly significant,” she shares.

While medals remain a coveted goal, Brock underscores the importance of relishing the experience and giving her utmost effort. “Securing medals would be remarkable,” she admits, “but what truly matters is giving it my all and cherishing the journey.”
