‘Defend our local library services in Havering!’-Romford MP launches campaigns to save Collier Row and Gidea Park libraries.

The Member of Parliament for Romford, has launched his campaign to save both Collier Row and Gidea Park libraries from the axe. Andrew Rosindell MP was joined by ward councillors over the weekend as well as many local residents who came out to protest against the possible closure of their libraries. Mr Rosindell said: “We must fight these shortsighted plans to close our much loved libraries by Havering Council which will disadvantage local people.”

Mr Rosindell was joined by the leader of Havering Conservatives Councillor Keith Prince, Mawney Ward Councillor Dilip Patel, St Albans Ward Councillor Judith Holt and residents who are angry at the council’s possible plans to close their libraries.

Emma from Collier Row told the Havering Daily: “Everyone knows they have to make savings, but they should look elsewhere to make cuts first. There are alternatives and different ways they could make these cuts. Once again they are penalising us.”
