Dagenham and Rainham Labour candidate takes part in Knife Crime Awareness Event.
Labour’s Prospective parliamentary candidate for Dagenham and Rainham, Margaret Mullane took part in the Knife Crime Awareness Event last week. The event in Dagenham was held by the Youth Ambassadors of the Ben Kinsella Trust. Margaret is a huge fan of the work the Ben Kinsella trust do in trying to eradicate knife crime.
When Margaret was the cabinet member for Barking and Dagenham Council with the Crime and Enforcement portfolio, she brought the Ben Kinsella Trust to the Borough,a moment that Margaret is very proud of. Their work has continued, and the Youth Ambassadors gave talks and presentations, on the work they are undertaking which included statistics on the many knife crimes in the borough.
There was a particularly poignant moment, with a table laid with 18 place settings representing the 18 young people who had been killed from knife crime in 2023 throughout the country.
When Margaret held a tackling crime summit, the conclusion of all present was that the whole community including law enforcement, social services, youth services and hospital workers, all need to work together to rid our community of knife crime. The education work that the Ben Kinsella Trust provides is invaluable. Margaret has extended an invitation to the Youth Ambassadors to attend the youth conference that Margaret is holding, as their input would be so valuable.
