St Albans Councillor shock at Labour’s lack of support for women’s issues.
Councillor Judith Holt , Ward Councillor for St Albans, has expressed her shock at the omission of women’s issues on the main Labour Party leaflet for today’s London Mayoral/Greater London Assembly Election.
“Why are there NO WOMEN residents pictured and NO WOMEN mentioned at all in this, the main Labour Party LM/GLA Election leaflet in Havering?” asked Councillor Holt. “Don’t we matter to them? Are we being silenced? I have no problem with all-male candidates but, with the safety of women and girls in London a tremendous concern and not even referred to here, what does this say about Sadiq Khan, Guy Williams and The Labour Party?”
Councillor Holt also commented on personal attacks on Susan Hall, the Conservative Mayoral Candidate, on another Labour leaflet. She said:”Disappointing – but, if they criticise someone personally, clearly it means they have no political arguments left!”

I think Cllr Holt is looking at things through some rather blue-tinted glasses.
Ms Hall has not been ‘personally attacked’ at all: she has been criticised for what she stands for, what she proposes to do if elected (in abolishing the clean-air measures), for her dishonesty (in pretending she had been pickpocketed on the tube when she had, in fact, merely dropped her purse) and for her divisiveness (in falsely claiming that London’s Jewish community lived ‘in fear’ of Sadiq Khan – a lie promptly rebutted by none other than the Board of Deputies).
She, on the other hand, has used her social media profile to personally vilify Khan on the basis of his ethnicity and religion and has joined Facebook groups that advocate criminal damage and vandalism as well as violence against the current mayor.
Ms Holt’s comments are of the ‘pot, kettle and black’ variety.
