Theatre reviewer and local campaigner Ruth Kettle-Frisby today shares an exciting new project from Havering Changing.

Coming to Collier Row and Orchard Village this Spring, residents are in for an immersive treat and feast for the senses.

The perfect antidote to modern living, typically an insular experience, imagine a Street Kiosk, ‘disrupting the fabric of everyday life’ by creating precious moments in time to excite the senses and bring people together.

Brought to you by Romford artist David Shearing who created The Rising Sun and New Beginning, David has made an exciting new art installation – in keeping with The People’s Kitchen theme – titled WORLD KIOSK, Bringing the World a Little Bit Closer.

This unique installation will shift the social landscape in your neighbourhood, creating space for budding personal connections and storytelling in a safe and inspiring environment, designed to nurture a sense of togetherness and change.

Described as ‘an intimate and enchanting digital sound and light installation where communities collide’, its purpose is twofold: bringing local communities together, and telling stories that connect local people to global stories and experiences.

Involving an intriguing special edition newspaper, and the captivating multisensory theatrical environment we have come to expect from David Shearing, participants will be free to explore the world with fresh eyes, connecting them to our global neighbours to bring their stories alive.

World Kiosk is supported by Without Walls and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and commissioned by Brighton Festival and Havering Changing. Come along, connect with others, experience sounds and tastes, and be part of the change that will bring us all closer together.
