The three St Andrew’s ward Councillors yesterday Thursday 11 April, proudly unveiled the restored Hornchurch War Memorial. Councillors Paul Middleton,Gerry O’ Sullivan and Bryan Vincent were joined by Carole Barratt the Chair of Hornchurch British Legion in front of the new memorial.

The restoration was part funded by Havering Council and part funded by the English Historical Memorial fund and comes after three years following extensive damage caused by vandals to the stone and brick work.

The awful act of mindless vandalism caused anger across our community and showed sadly, the disrespect many have for those who gave their lives for us.

Yesterday, the new Memorial was unveiled and now stands once again in good condition outside St Andrew’s Parish Church.
