Parking ticket machine at Cherry Tree car park to be removed as RingGo parking comes in.
News from Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Dagenham and Rainham Margaret Mullane.
The parking ticket machine serving the public car park at the Cherry Tree had been out of order for some time. On reporting this to Havering Council Margaret Mullane, Labour PPC for Dagenham and Rainham, was informed this week that rather than repair or replace the machine, it is to be removed altogether.
The new arrangement coming into effect will be payment by the mobile phone RingGo parking app. Havering will be placing signage at the car park giving notice of the change.
Margaret told the Havering Daily: ”I understand that this method of payment is probably more cost efficient for councils but I am concerned that it might put off some shoppers and potential customers of the excellent local restaurants and cafes. I really hope that isn’t the case, because it’s vital for the local economy that these businesses prosper.
I will be keeping a close eye and be remaining in contact with the shops and restaurants to ensure that there has been no adverse impact for them of this change.”
