‘It was really beneficial for me to hear the community voice on Monday evening and listen to first-hand accounts of how lives have been affected by knife crime in Havering’-Police boss joins Havering Knife Crime Summit.
‘My teams continue to have amazing success in bringing offenders to justice and work hard to identify those intent on bringing knives into Romford‘-Superintendent Hutchison
On Monday evening Havering held its first Knife Crime Summit. Neighbourhoods Superintendent Simon Hutchison joined the panel and answered questions put to him by the community.
The summit provided an excellent opportunity for the local community to ask question about work going on across the borough to tackle knife crime and speak with anti knife crime campaigners and bereaved mothers.
Mr Hutchison told the Havering Daily:
“It was really beneficial for me to hear the community voice on Monday evening and listen to first-hand accounts of how lives have been affected by knife crime in Havering. There were some excellent points made around reporting barriers, communication and what our communities can do to support the police. Despite the challenges faced I think there was some real positivity and things we can do together to improve the situation in Havering.
“My teams continue to have amazing success in bringing offenders to justice and work hard to identify those intent on bringing knives into Romford. This is a symptom of a wider problem though, one that we are keen to work on with the community, charities and the local authority.
“I am exceptionally grateful to all those that attended and to councillor David Taylor for arranging the event and the Romford Baptist Church for hosting.”
