What an incredible turnout! Yesterday, on March 16, 2024, Romford witnessed a remarkable display of community spirit and environmental stewardship as residents gathered for the Great British Spring Clean litter pick event. The streets of South Street and Romford Market Place were abuzz with activity as volunteers, armed with gloves, litter-pickers, and determination, set out to make a difference.

The event, organised in collaboration with Keep Britain Tidy, brought together a diverse group of individuals, all united by a common goal: to make our town clean and beautiful.

Throughout the event, volunteers worked tirelessly, scouring the streets for litter and debris. Armed with bin bags and litter pickers, they combed through every nook and cranny, leaving no stone unturned. Their efforts were truly commendable, resulting in the collection of over 40 bags of litter!

But the community’s dedication didn’t stop there. In addition to the litter pick, volunteers also dedicated their time to planting flowers in the numerous pocket gardens across Romford town.

The success of the event would not have been possible without the support of various local organisations and groups, including the Harold Hill Wombles, Havering Green Streets, RomfordBID, Havering Volunteer Centre, Romford Civic Centre, Havering Council (Urbaser), and the newly formed Romford Town Wombles.

As a token of appreciation, all volunteers received a voucher from RomfordBID for a free roll and drink—a small gesture of thanks for their invaluable contribution to the event.

Well done to all those who took part!
