LONDON NEWS: Image released of male sought in connection with a knifepoint robbery in Newham.

An image of a person who officers would like to speak to about a knifepoint robbery at a shop in Canning Town has been released to the public.

The robbery took place on 23 November 2023 at a takeaway restaurant in Hermit Road, E16.

Staff reported that the suspect entered the shop just after 23.00hrs, threatened them with a knife and stole £100 from the till.

Nobody was injured during the robbery. 

Detective Constable Joseph Tyrrell is leading the enquiries, and said: “We are now able to release images of this person who may be able to help our enquiries.

“If you recognise him, please contact me by calling 101, quoting crime reference 5339838/23 or please give information anonymously via Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.

“Having someone coming into your place of work and intimidate you in this way is absolutely abhorrent and we are working hard to achieve justice for the victims.”
