‘We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone; the emergency services, teachers, and local Councillors for their rapid response’-Jon Cruddas MP
The Dagenham and Rainham MP Jon Cruddas has thanked members of the emergency services, teachers and local councillors following their rapid response after a threatening message was left to Newtons School in South Hornchurch yesterday.
Police were quick on scene and evacuated pupils to the nearby Mardyke Community Centre whilst a thorough search of the building was carried out.
Mr Cruddas said:
“As we understand it there was quite a scare yesterday afternoon on the Orchard Village estate and at Newtons Primary School as a result of a threatening phone call. Thankfully there was no incident and the police are following it up. Shortly after evacuation people were able to go back to their homes and the school had advised parents that children could be collected from Walden Avenue.
We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone; the emergency services, teachers, and local Councillors for their rapid response to the situation – also a big thank you to the Mardyke Community Centre which acted as a rendezvous point to assist the school.”
