Investigation under way after school and nearby buildings evacuated in South Hornchurch following threat of suspicious package being left.
A police investigation is under way after a person is believed to have left a threatening message regarding a suspicious package at a school in South Hornchurch yesterday, Tuesday 5 March.
Newtons School on Lowen Road, was evacuated and pupils taken to the nearby Mardyke Community centre, whilst officers carried out a full search of the school. This came in response to a threatening message left to the school.
A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Havering Daily:
“At 13:16 on Tuesday, 5 March officers were called after a threat was made to a primary school in Rainham.
Officers responded and carried out a search of the site. Nothing suspicious was found.
An investigation is under way and further enquiries are taking place.”
