Havering Chief Executive announces Dept for Levelling Up has notified council that a £54 million Capitalisation loan could be issued.
Andrew Blake-Herbert, Havering Chief Executive yesterday Wednesday 29 February, announced that the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has notified the Council that they could be issued a Capitalisation Direction of £54million to be drawn down as required. In other words the much needed loan Havering Council urgently needed to stop them going bankrupt.
In a recent council meeting aimed at approving the new budget for 2024/2025, significant decisions were made that could impact various sectors within the community.
The opposition party, Havering Conservatives, presented an alternative budget proposal, aiming to safeguard funding for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) transport while proposing to eliminate the Romford plan.
The Havering Residents Association had their budget approved, with support from the Labour party.
