Harold Hill residents leave angry message for Havering Council-‘Shame on you!’
Residents living on Priory Road in Harold Hill are fed up and angry with Havering Council. Several weeks ago, residents living along this very quiet and tranquil area that is home to much wildlife, woke up to the noise of heavy machinery and saw large diggers had started to build on a much loved green space.
Since then, residents have been objecting and protesting about the further building of more houses on land that is home to much wildlife that includes our deer, badgers, and many birds.
Last week, ‘Shame on you!’ was written all across the building hoardings. Once that was removed by the council, a new message was then left -‘Stop building on our green spaces.’
Residents living on Priory Road objected to this planning application when it was first proposed and when it was granted back in February 2021. Nothing happened since then, and residents were under the hopeful belief that it had not gone through.
Now, despite their ongoing objections, work has started. The area is blighted by large heavy machinery, loud noise everyday, and this small road is taken up by these vehicles going across their grass areas and on their pavements. Deer who graze there have been scared by the noise, and disturbed, and what was a quiet area with a beautiful green space, has now gone as more properties go up.
