‘The reports from local parents have been shocking’-Dagenham and Rainham MP and PPC tackle violent crime in Rainham.
Jon Cruddas MP received assurances from the police that urgent action is being taken to tackle the spate of violent robberies that have recently taken place in Rainham Village.
Jon had contacted the police on receiving reports from parents of local students who were threatened and mugged on their way home from school.
Jon told the Havering Daily: “I have received a response from the Police Superintendent on the actions that have been put in place. I am pleased to see that there is ongoing engagement with the Rainham Harris Academy, hopefully this will produce information that will lead to identifying the perpetrators.
There is also an overt patrol plan in place to ensure coverage at the priority times of day and that also includes the local bus network as two offences took place on buses.”
Margaret Mullane, Labour PPC for Dagenham and Rainham said: “The reports from local parents have been shocking, but I am pleased to see the response that Jon has received. With the community’s support in coming forward with information and intelligence, the police are confident they will be able to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
The police have also committed to update the community on progress.”
