The Administration have listened to residents responses to the Consultation and due to a couple of new financial government announcements we are pleased to propose that there will be no car parking charges in parks.’

At a meeting yesterday, Havering Councillors listened to the people of the borough and rejected all plans for proposed car parking charges in parks. Residents had voiced their serious concerns over the possible plans of charging people to pay in car parks across our parks and had clearly stated that many have already been penalised by the ULEZ expansion and now this would add further hardship to their lives.

Yesterday, Wednesday 6 February, councillors decided not put forward any plans for park car parking and to continue the Sunday free parking. The proposed 40% increase on weekly car parking charges has now be cut to a 20% increase instead.

All this will be subjected to councillors’ agreement at the next Full Council meeting.

A statement by the Havering Residents Association says:

‘The Administration have listened to residents responses to the Consultation and due to a couple of new financial government announcements we are pleased to propose that there will be no car parking charges in parks, we will continue free Sunday parking and the proposed 40% increase on weekly car parking charges will now be 20%. This will need to be agreed at Full Council.’
