‘Our local police do a great job and it’s why I am proud to support them with my Bring Back Our Bobbies Campaign’-Margaret Mullane.
Local Councillors and Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate join forces with local police officers to support women and their safety across the area.
Beam Park Labour Councillor Matt Stanton and prospective Parliamentary Candidate Margaret Mullane joined local residents with Safer Neighbourhood Team police officers to walk around part of the ward on Saturday evening 27 January and listen to their concerns around street lighting.
“Public safety is one of the most important issues to residents of any background and it’s important to recognise that for some people, women, the elderly, or the disabled, that they may be at additional risk, and experience situations differently to others” Councillor Stanton told the Havering Daily. “It’s important that we start by supporting the most vulnerable and the concerns raised will be taken up with the Council, and with the relevant landowners as required”.
Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Margaret Mullane also attended and commented that there was no substitute for experiencing issues first hand “Our local police do a great job and it’s why I am proud to support them with my ‘Bring Back our Bobbies’ petition to increase police numbers at transport hubs and deliver a local police service that residents know they can rely on.”
Councillors Stanton and Mckeever will be arranging similar walks in other parts of the ward.
