Change is on the horizon for Havering’s DIY waste disposal system, and it’s good news for residents. Despite the current limitations in making ‘on-the-day’ bookings, Councillor Gillian Ford has taken action to address this concern.

In response to Councillor Ford’s inquiry, an official statement has been released, indicating a willingness to adapt and improve the existing system. Councillor Gillian Ford (pictured) expressed her satisfaction, saying, “I am pleased to see that our concerns are being heard, and steps are being taken to make the system more accessible for residents.”

The official statement further reads, “I have taken on board the comments made and intend to change our practice for booking at the RRCs to allow residents to book ‘on-the-day’ as this seems both sensible and reasonable.”

Furthermore, efforts are underway to coordinate with Renewi to implement these changes promptly. The goal is to streamline the booking process and enhance convenience for residents disposing of DIY waste. The statement expresses optimism that the transition will be smooth, stating, “I am liaising with Renewi to make these changes but am hopeful this won’t take too long to change.”

This positive development, supported by Councillor Ford’s advocacy, demonstrates the responsiveness of local authorities to the needs and feedback of the community. Residents can look forward to a more flexible and user-friendly DIY waste disposal booking system in the near future. As Councillor Ford continues to champion these improvements, the community can anticipate a smoother and more convenient experience when managing their waste disposal needs.
