Investigation under way after woman in her 60s involved in fatal collision in Dagenham.

The A112 Rainham Road South between Rainham and Dagenham was closed this morning after a woman in her 60s was tragically struck by a vehicle on Leys Avenue.

A spokesperson for the Met police said:
“Police were called at 08:26 on Friday 26 January to reports of a woman, believed aged in her 60s, who had suffered injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Leys Avenue, Dagenham
Officers attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

We are aware of several rumours circulating on social media as to the nature of this incident – this is being treated as a fatal road traffic collision.”

Road closures remains in place around the scene.
