Havering Council submit Bridge Close regeneration plan.
Havering Council have submitted their Bridge Close regeneration plan. Bridge Close Regeneration LLP, is a development company wholly-owned by Havering Council and has submitted the planning application for the regeneration of Bridge Close in Romford.
The council have stated:
The planning application seeks approval for up to 1,070 new homes, including affordable housing, a new three-form entry primary school, a community centre, a health centre, a new pedestrian and cycle bridge and extensive investment in the public realm, including the greening and naturalisation of the River Rom.
The proposals include a mix of private and affordable housing with provision of 35% affordable, high-quality, energy-efficient homes that are fit for the future, with new and improved community and commercial spaces as well as infrastructure and improvements to public spaces.
There are ongoing discussions between BCR and Havering Islamic Cultural Centre BCR. St Albans Ward Councillor Judith Holt has criticised the plan as it shows a community centre rather than a place of worship.
The Council are keen to state that the homes will help reduce significant pressure on housing in the borough.
