Strong winds battered Havering yesterday Tuesday 2 January, as storm Henk left its mark across the borough. By the afternoon, the winds had reached record high levels and residents started to see trees collapsing alongside walls and fences right across the borough.

A tree on North Street near the Queen’s Theatre was in danger of collapsing, so the area was cordoned off by our firefighters.

A tree had collapsed on Ardleigh Green Road in Hornchurch, just near the college and the road had to be closed by our firefighters.

Fencing along Sainsbury’s car park on Billet Lane collapsed on parked vehicles nearby.

A brick wall in Hornchurch next to St Andrews Church collapsed due to the high winds.

In Rainham, Dunedin Road, it is believed a metal garden shed had been blown onto a balcony.

A tree collapsed on Crow Lane in Romford.

Loose scaffolding on Scottish Mutual House office building on North Street had been dislodged and fallen on parked cars.
