Rainham’s Lightnin Drama Group make Havering proud with their tribute to WWII pilots at the New’s Year Day Parade.
Well done to all the members of the Lightnin and Thunder Drama group who yesterday, January 1 represented Havering in London for the New’s Year Day Parade. Led by the incredible local hero Councillor Sue Ospreay, the group did the borough extremely proud.
Their theme was Hornchurch Airfield during World War II and they paid tribute to the brave pilots who defended the British skies. Their float consisted of a World War II Spitfire replica that they proudly made themselves.
Well done to both drama groups and of course the very much loved local legend Sue Ospreay, who has definitely made Havering proud.
Sue told the Havering Daily:”We were late entries when the original ones had to unfortunately bail. Havering Mayor Councillor Stephanie Nunn asked us if we were willing to take on the challenge and after conferring with parents-we said yes!
“We were asked to choose a subject connected with our borough and we chose Hornchurch Airfield and paid tribute to our brave pilots during World War II”.
After the fantastic parade, the team were greeted by Havering’s Mayor Councillor Stephanie Nunn and Consort Councillor Barry Mugglestone who were both extremely proud of the team’s participation in the parade.
