Evelyn is an amazing ten year old! She was nominated at the age of just eight years old by 2nd Romford Scout Group to be one of Bear’s Unsung Heroes.

She was invested into Scouting when she was a very young age and was an Explorer long before she was a Beaver. She began attending scout camps when she was months old and has tagged along on almost every Scout camp her family has done since then!

At a young age, Evelyn decided she wanted to make people smile. When Covid struck she was just six years old and began by writing notes and giving them to people on the streets. She played games with her local postie, and gave treats to members of the emergency service workers. She helped nurses with her mum on a Covid ward by getting PPE donations and care packs for them. She made and sold bracelets to help raise money for them.

She also drew pictures for residents in care homes and collected treats and games for them to play. When Christmas came, Evelyn collected chocolates and eggs and Easter time.

She has now collected over 2,000 selection packs and Easter eggs and is known to all the local care homes who welcome her with open arms when she drops off her treats. She has also raised thousands for local charities including Isla’s journey.

Evelyn has also received the Mayor of Havering’s Civic Award for all her incredible community work.

She has now become one of Bear Grylls Unsung Heroes and her highlight was having her scout scarf signed by Bear himself!

Evelyn you are an amazing community champion!
