Rainham’s Mardyke Community Centre recently hosted its annual Christmas lunch for senior citizens, and it was a heartening display of community spirit.

The event, organized by the MYCA, the centre’s charity, offered a complimentary three-course Christmas meal, thanks to the generosity of sponsors Wanis International Foods and Hawkins Butchers. Their support, alongside contributions from the MYCA Fundraising Committee, Childhood Memories, Members of the local community, and the Newtons School Choir, ensured a festive atmosphere filled with Christmas joy.

Volunteers worked together to ensure the meal was a success.

Volunteers, including individuals from Wanis International Foods, local residents, local councillors, and dedicated centre staff, worked together to prepare and serve the meal. The Newton’s School Choir added a delightful touch by singing Christmas carols, enhancing the festive vibe of the gathering.

This is the 3rd year Wanis International Foods has supported this event.

It was a lovely occasion where the community came together to spread cheer and goodwill. The smiles on the faces of the elderly guests and the collaborative efforts of everyone involved made it a truly special and memorable event, celebrating the true essence of the holiday season.

Newtons School Choir sung carols for the elderly.
