VIDEO: White Ribbon Day-Campaign tackling violence against women and girls launched in Romford.
Saturday 25 November was White Ribbon Day-a campaign that calls for an end to violence against women and girls. The campaign was launched in Romford by April Mehmet founder of the Walk It Out movement.
This year, the the theme for White Ribbon Day was #ChangeTheStory where individuals and organisations are being asked to make consistent choices and actions to change the story for women and girls to make sure they can live their lives without the fear of violence.
Walk It Out- is a group that empowers women and young females across east London to not only gain health and well being, but also raise awareness for women and create a safe space for them.
Founder April, is an amazing campaigner who runs regular groups for women, encouraging them and promoting better well being.
On Saturday April was joined by Romford Safer Neighbourhood officers, Councillor Ray Morgon, leader of Havering Council, Romford MP Andrew Rosindell, Councillor Graham Williamson, Councillor Viddy Persaud, and Councillor Tim Ryan. Sue Hedges from the Ricky Hayden Memorial was also present alongside many local residents who came out in support of this fantastic campaign.
