On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when the guns fell silent, we will remember.’

Right across Havering yesterday at 11am, a two minute silence was observed for all those who lost their life, and those still serving across the world. Hundreds lined the streets and came to listen to the many special Remembrance Services held across Havering.

From former soldiers, our police officers, our firefighters and local dignitaries, all laid wreaths to pay their respects to our fallen heroes, who paid the ultimate sacrifice. This weekend was for you and you will be remembered.

Hundreds of Army, Navy, Royal Air Force and Police Cadets, joined, Scouts, Beavers, Cubs and Brownies as they joined the processions and marched alongside veterans to the local Cenotaphs.

Despite the wet conditions, residents across the area came out to listen to the moving tributes paid and lay their wreaths in respect.

Romford MP Andrew Rosindell joined the procession and service at Coronation Gardens alongside Havering’s Leader of the Opposition and GLA Member Councillor Keith Prince. Havering’s Mayor Councillor Stephanie Nunn and Consort Councillor Barry Mugglestone led the procession in Romford.

Hornchurch and Upminster MP Julia Lopez attended the Hornchurch Service at St Andrew’s Church and laid her wreath at the Cenotaph outside the church.
