Labour PPC’s Cherry Tree car park clean up campaign.

Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) for Dagenham and Rainham, Margaret Mullane is extremely active across the local area. She has been working to tackle the fly tipping nightmare at the Cherry Tree car park in South Hornchurch.

Margaret, has welcomed the response from Havering Council to her long running campaign to tackle fly tippers and clean up the public car park at the Cherry Tree.

Margaret brought the problem to the attention of Havering Council to the problem on the 8 February this year, calling for a clean up and the installation of a CCTV camera to catch the perpetrators. Since then she has followed up this with the Council. She has now received news of the successful outcome of this.

Margaret told the Havering Daily: “I am so pleased that Havering has acted to get a grip on this. A camera was installed and in the short period since the start of September 25 environmental offences have been logged at this car park and this has resulted in 22 Fixed Penalty Notices having been issued.

My hope now is that this will deter irresponsible people from fly tipping and littering this area. The local businesses and shops need a local environment that is clean and tidy, if these problems are not tackled quickly there will be an escalation. I am grateful to Havering for its action on this.”
