Havering Residents Association Councillor Gillian Ford today writes in the Havering Daily.

“On 10 July 2023, Councillor David Taylor posted an online article that included reference to the proposed development of the former Upminster Hall Lane, Pitch & Putt site. In the view of the HRA the article did not accurately represent the history of the site or the administration’s lack of options in respect of the site with a deliberate slant to suggest it was the H.R.A that had sold and agreed the development of the site.

“In an online article dated 11 July 2023, an article written on behalf of the HRA suggested that Councillor David Taylor had lied in his article.

“The HRA article was intended to clarify that it was in fact the previous Conservative Administration that had voted to dispose of the site, and to grant planning permission for the same. The planning matter before the HRA was simply the approval of reserved matters as the site had already been sold and granted planning permission by the previous administration.

“However, I do acknowledge on behalf of the HRA, that Councillor Taylor did spin the details, he did not actually lie and we apologise for any distress this may have caused.”
