Elm Park husband who murdered his wife is sentenced to serve at least 15 years.
The murder of Maya Devi has been described as a ‘tragic case’.
Husband Tarsame Singh pleaded guilty of her murder and was yesterday, Wednesday 1 November sentenced to serve at least 15 years.
In May this year, Maya’s body was found on Cowdray Way in Elm Park, after Mr Singh walked into Romford police station and told staff at the front desk that he had attacked his wife.
When officers arrived, they found 77, Maya laying on the floor unresponsive and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A rounders bat was also found near Maya’s body.
Mr Singh was charged with her murder the following day.
Detective Chief Inspector Rogers said that this was a ‘tragic case and one which has left the couple’s three children utterly distraught.’
Maya Devi was a much loved member of her local community who had just began to make friends after a lifetime of work.
Let us pay tribute to Maya Devi who is very much missed by her family and friends in Elm Park
