Romford man’s anger as ULEZ compliant car clocks ten £90 fines.
A Romford resident is angry that despite having changed his car since the introduction of the ULEZ across all outer London boroughs, he has now received ten £90 fines.
Gary had to change his car when Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, announced he was pushing through the ultra low emission zone to all outer London boroughs despite heavy opposition.
He told the Havering Daily:” I had to change my car and bought a second hand vehicle on finance that I’m still struggling to pay.I had no choice but to do this as I need a car for work, despite the financial struggle it has put me in.
“I changed my car in September and began driving around as normal. Then I changed my plates and put private plates on the new car and that is when I began to receive the fines.”
Gary first received three fines through the post and then was horrified when he accessed the TfL website. He continued: “When I went on to the TfL site I saw that I had a further seven fines to pay at £90 each.
“I think the system is broken and people like me are getting wrongly fined causing us alarm and distress.”
Gary has been trying to contact TfL to get this dealt with, but has not had a positive result so far.
“I have tried to contact them and they have passed me around and I’ve not had any outcome. I still have eight £90 fines to pay.
“This is a really stressful situation and it has left me very anxious. I changed my car and I’m having to pay finance on a ULEZ compliant car and they still send me fines!”
