Last night, The Havering Daily had the privilege of attending the opening show of “Fiesta – the people’s play about the people’s car” at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch. And let me tell you, it was an absolute blast!

The play, written and directed by Joe Lichtenstein, is a heartfelt tribute to the Ford Fiesta, a car that has woven itself into the fabric of the UK over the past half-century. As we know, Ford ceased production of the Fiesta in June 2023, marking the end of an era. This play is a fitting farewell to a vehicle that has touched the lives of so many. Let’s face it, how many of us owned a Fiesta!

The production takes you on a journey through the memories and experiences of local people who have a connection to Ford and the Fiesta. From factory workers to owners, neighbours, and friends, their stories come to life on stage. The play’s authenticity is a testament to the extensive research and interactive workshops conducted with the local community in the Orchard Village area.

But what truly stood out was the humor woven into these stories. The play had the audience in stitches, reminding us that amidst the nostalgia, the Fiesta brought joy and laughter to countless lives.

Joe Lichtenstein, the writer and director of “Fiesta,” beautifully summed it up: “Fiesta is a series of collective vignettes that capture the moments of loving the iconic Fiesta from the people that worked at the factory, whether in the canteen or on the production line, capturing memories and cherished moments to say goodbye to a car but not to the love that lives on for it.”

If you’re looking for a night of laughter, nostalgia, and a heartfelt celebration of an automotive icon, I strongly encourage you to catch “Fiesta” at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch. It’s a chance to be a part of history and bid farewell to the little car that touched us all.

Tickets are available for just £10, with concessions at £5 (plus a 65p QNext fee). You can book your tickets by visiting www.queens-theatre.co.uk or calling the Box Office Team at 01708 443333.

Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the Fiesta farewell party. Trust us; it’s a ride you won’t forget!
