Rainham residents launch ‘Make some noise-No to ULEZ’ campaign.
‘We don’t want this and it needs to go’-residents hit back at the ULEZ expansion.
A Rainham road where residents struggled to attend anti ULEZ protests due to mobility issues, has decided to set up a campaign to make as much noise as possible every Sunday at 7pm for a minute to show their anger against the ULEZ expansion.
The ‘Make some noise-No to ULEZ’, was launched last Sunday as residents came out of their homes to rev car engines, beep horns, bang saucepans together and generally make as much noise as possible to protest against the ULEZ expansion.
One resident told the Havering Daily: “A lot of people here wanted to attend all the protests that took place either locally in Havering or across London, but sadly couldn’t due to issues such as mobility. This has been a way to get them involved and give them the chance to show just how angry they are against this expansion.
“I find it quite ironic that this scheme was set up to stop pollution and increase air quality, when actually the opposite has been achieved due to people going round longer routes now to avoid cameras. So many drivers now come along all the back streets and avoid main roads, so that they do not have to pay the charges.
“This expansion and the way it has been done has been an injustice for the community here. Our transport system in Rainham is nothing like inner London and so many people here are struggling.
“This is a way for them to show just how angry they are and we will keep doing this until this tax on people is stopped.”

The only way now to reverse this ULEZ expansion now is to vote Sadiq Khan out of office next May, with this in mind please consider supporting and sharing the Parliamentary petition –
