Park Lane shops-residents complain where’s our free half hour parking?
Did you know that the charges on the parking machine by the shopping parade in Park Lane, Hornchurch, have changed? Now, it costs £2.10 for up to just one hour to park in the bays alongside the shops on Monday to Saturday, 8.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.!
St Albans ward Councillor Judith Holt has set up a petition to be presented at Full Council to try to get Havering Council to reverse these charges and restore the half-an-hour’s free parking outside Park Lane shops. People can go to Benhurst Chemist to sign this or sign at Change.org online at https://chng.it/FLFRStfxZc
“On the Havering Council website, it states “Our on street bays have 30 minutes free parking, excluding Romford“. Clearly, the HRA/Labour Administration think that Park Lane is in Romford, not Hornchurch!” exclaimed Councillor Holt.
“The shops in Park Lane include a number of popular independent small businesses, including Corner Express, Park Lane Chippy, Harlequin, Hornchurch Food and Wine, Clean Stitch, Mo’s Barbers and Park Lane Express, who are being affected by the parking charges. It is not fair that older people in particular will have to pay when they come to Benhurst Chemist to get their vital COVID and flu vaccinations. Park Lane should be treated rightfully as part of Hornchurch.”
Councillor Judith Holt, St Albans Ward Councillor.
