Romford BID holds Second Term Launch Event

The Havering Daily had the privilege of attending the Romford Business Improvement District (BID) Second Term Launch Event hosted in ATIK nightclub, where key stakeholders gathered to discuss the exciting developments shaping the future of Romford. Here’s a breakdown of what unfolded at this insightful event.

Julie Frost, the BID Director, kicked off the event with a remarkable presentation highlighting Romford BID’s past achievements. These include a series of successful events that have brought the community together. Notably, Romford’s outstanding performance in London in Bloom earned them a coveted spot in Britain in Bloom. Moreover, Julie Frost spoke to the crowd about “My Local Bobby,” a program aimed at enhancing safety and security in Romford Town Centre, promising a brighter, safer future.

What is a BID?
A Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined area where businesses collaborate to invest in local improvements and services through additional taxes or levies to enhance the area’s economic vitality and community well-being.

This was followed by a presentation by “My Local Bobby” and “TM Eye.” They shared their impressive track record in patrolling Romford Town Centre, emphasizing the successes they’ve achieved in making the area more secure for residents and businesses alike.

“ITS Technology” then took the stage to discuss the potential of bringing cutting-edge fiber networks to Havering. This promises faster, more reliable internet access, paving the way for businesses and residents to thrive in our digital age.

Representatives from the Department for Working Pensions shed light on how the Job Centre can assist local businesses. Their insights provided valuable information for entrepreneurs and employers looking to navigate the labor market effectively.

In the next five years, Romford BID has set its sights on four key objectives that will shape the town’s future:

• Marketing and Promotion, ensuring that Romford’s unique offerings reach a wider audience
• Safety and Security, fostering an environment where everyone feels secure
• Events, Arts, and Culture, enhancing the town’s cultural vibrancy through a diverse array of activities
• Environmental Improvements, making Romford an even more attractive and sustainable place to live and do business.
