Jon Cruddas MP and Margaret Mullane, Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Dagenham and Rainham, combined to call upon Havering Council to take action to improve road safety in Upminster Road North. Jon and Margaret had been contacted by local concerned residents about a number of car collisions and near misses, particularly at and close to the Upminster Road North junction with Warwick Road.

Margaret Mullane told the Havering Daily: “I am pleased that the Council is to undertake an analysis of traffic flows and incidents at the junction of Upminster Road North and Warwick Road over coming months. The plan is to assess the basis for a funding bid to Transport for London to make junction improvements and enhance safety for motorists.”

Margaret added: “We also raised with the Council the number of potholes in the roads in this vicinity. Again, I am very pleased to learn from Havering that they will be carrying out repair works to the carriageway in Berwick Pond Road in the next 28 days.”
