Rainham residents urge council to turn unused area into a wildlife haven.
Two Rainham residents are urging council officers to turn Springfield park on Acer Avenue into a wildlife haven.
The area has been left unused and could be turned into a beautiful wildlife spot by the community, if the council give them the green light.

Councillor Sue Ospreay and local lady Chris who lives near the area, have already been planting and developing small parts of the field to attract wildlife such as hedgehogs with a ‘hedgehog hotel’, frogs and butterflies.
The land has tarmac currently under the grass, so growing flowers has been a problem. The trees planted by the council several years ago have been left unattended and sadly some have died.
Now, Sue and Chris would like the council to dig up the tarmac and allow residents to plant flowers and turn the area into a much needed small wildlife haven.
Councillor Ospreay told the Havering Daily: “We are just next to Launders Lane here, and developing a beautiful wildlife zone like this would benefit all the community. The area has been left by the council and is totally overgrown.
“Allowing local residents to develop it like this would be bring our wildlife back which is vital and also given the residents here, a much needed green space.
“We ask the council to please consider digging up the tarmac and allowing residents living nearby to come and develop this, to give something back to the local community who struggle with the Launders Lane fires everyday.”
