Barking and Dagenham police yesterday, hosted their ‘A New Met For London’ event at Dagenham and Redbridge football club. These events are taking place across every London borough and yesterday, 23 August, saw Barking and Dagenham police host theirs.

The open door event was hosted by Neighbourhoods Superintendent David Rhodes, alongside Assistant Commissioner Louisa Rolfe.

The event saw a full house attended by all members of the local community including local youths from the Vibe, IAG members, Barking and Dagenham Cabinet Member for Enforcement Councillor Syed Ghani and Barking and Dagenham Mayor Councillor Donna Lumsden.

The community had the opportunity to listen to the aim behind the New Met for London plan and had the chance to chat with their local officers and Senior Leaders about policing in the area.

The aim was for the community to have their say and most importantly, to be a part of the New Met for London by helping to change policing for the better.

Neighbourhoods Superintendent David Rhodes is very proactive across the borough and spoke openly about his plans for the local area, the hard work his officers have being doing and how listening to the needs of the community is at the heart of this new plan.
