Upminster By-Election Special: Jacqueline Williams – Upminster Resident Association Candidate.
The Upminster by-election is to be held next week. The Havering Daily has reached out to all the candidates standing, to share with our readers who they are and what plans they may have for the local ward
In an ‘Election Special’, The Havering Daily brings you an inside look into the manifestos and personalities of the candidates, providing a glimpse of what they will bring for a better Upminster.
Today, we hear about the Upminster Resident Association candidate, Jacqueline Williams.

I have lived in Upminster, in Corbets Tey Village, for 21 years. I previously lived in Barking & Dagenham.
Formerly the Chair of the Upminster & Cranham Residents’ Association, I have always been a strong supporter of the Residents’ Association’s values. Prior to being Chair, I sat on the Executive Committee and was a joint Area Co-ordinator for Upminster Bulletin deliveries. I have worked in the City since the early 80s and have 40 years experience in the legal profession. I have an NVQ in Management (Level III) and was a practicing Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. I have worked for several global law firms and have had roles within the HR and General Counsel teams. I have also participated in numerous charitable activities for Richard House and St Francis Hospices. I have many transferable skills which would make me an excellent councillor and I want to make a difference in the lives of local residents.
I strongly believe we should
- Continue to preserve our Green Belt and challenge any loss of our open spaces;
- Value our local heritage and surroundings;
- Work with local businesses to encourage people to shop locally in Upminster, and aim to achieve a good balance of diverse shops and other establishments on our high street;
- Keep our streets clean, safe, and tidy;
- Support all of our residents from the young to the elderly.
In my spare time, my husband and I share a love of music and dancing, as well as an interest in classic cars.
