Anger as rubbish not collected for weeks at new Beam Park flats.
“We can’t open our windows now as there are flies everywhere and rats,” a resident living on Knightswood Place in Beam told the Havering Daily.
Amanda moved into the new build on Lance Street, in January and since moving in the refuse collection has been on and off.
“We had to fight to get our building on their route and now we go for weeks without our rubbish being collected.
“I have emailed the council 15 times and called them twice. It really is awful. There area is overflowing with rubbish, other buildings come and leave their rubbish here as well causing a build up that has led to rats and endless flies everywhere.”
Amanda has been working with her local Councillors for Beam Park Councillor Trevor McKeever and Matt Stanton who have been working hard to resolve this problem as quickly as possible.
Councillor McKeever told the Havering Daily:
We were contacted by a resident in May this year stating that the bins had not been emptied.
“We immediately contacted HML and the council to make representations on behalf of the residents.
We had an immediate response, the rubbish was removed, until today we had not received any further communications that the refuse collections had been intermittent.
We have today as a matter of urgency contacted HML and Havering council to address this issue and resolve it fully.
Residents should not have to put up with unreliable services. We will be following this through to fruition making sure a permanent solution is sought.”
