Rainham Ward Councillor Sue Ospreay today writes in the Havering Daily-hitting back at an article in another local news publication.

Launders Lane; a recent article in a local paper created a bit of a stir. However, Councillor Ospreay now wants to set the record straight and share the reality and not ill informed hype.

In relation to the question of when did I foresee a resolution, I did say snails would move faster whilst we try and await a solution, because there’s so much to do and I’m not the patient type. You have to try and separate the truth amongst all the hype. Hands up I own it when I said I feel like smashing my head against a brick wall, that sums up my frustration dealing with this all.

I also said this problem has been here for 20 years, and at least this council have taken some action to alleviate people’s fears. I added there was going to be a meeting on Wednesday morning and could possibly have more info, but the reporter was keen, to push on with the Launders Lane scene, and it was all systems go.

I spoke of the monitors and how pleased I was that one meeting with the land owner had finally taken place.

I notice none of this is covered in this article? Perhaps they never had the space?

So I’m guilty of being passionate about Rainham, Wennington and its people whom I love so much, I’ve learned not to when my fuse is short – talk to reporters when they get in touch.

I am proud to be your Councillor and I will always fight your corner, but some things were left out and I think it only fair that I warn you. And those of you who know me, would know I always act with best intentions from the heart. I’ll try my hardest to engage my brain before I let my mouth start.

I also very much appreciate the backing I have had from the top level of the HRA. No judgement, just advice, support, and behind me all the way.

I am determined to get Launders Lane done and happy to say, that I honestly believe victory will be won with the help of HRA.
