Keith Smith, better known as the Crusader Raider, has been an unwavering member of the Raider Nation since 1980. Hailing from Barking & Dagenham, Keith has gone above and beyond in his dedication to supporting the Las Vegas Raiders, traveling extensively to attend games across the United States and accumulating over one million air miles. However, his commitment extends far beyond the realm of football fandom. Keith has devoted over 40 years to voluntary work and community engagement, making a significant impact in both the United Kingdom and the United States.

From his early days attending games in Los Angeles, Oakland, and Las Vegas, to his trips across the United States to support the Raiders, Keith’s passion for his team has been unwavering. As a member of the Raider’s fan club SBUK in the UK, Keith has been actively involved in promoting the team and fostering a sense of community among Raiders fans in Europe. Additionally, he has supported the London Monarchs and attended international series games in the United Kingdom.

Inspired by the vibrant fan culture he witnessed in the United States, Keith decided to create a character that would represent England while maintaining a strong connection to the Raiders. Thus, the Crusader Raider was born. Clad in an outfit adorned with the flag of St. George and the Raiders shield, Keith’s character quickly gained recognition as one of the most prominent Super Fans outside of the USA.

Keith, in his role as the Crusader Raider, has leveraged his fandom to support numerous charitable causes. His philanthropic efforts span across both the UK and the USA. In America, he has been a dedicated supporter of the Biletnikoff Foundation, Making Oakland Better, autism charities, and initiatives against child abuse, among others. Keith’s charitable work also extends to his local community in London, where he has been actively involved in delivering food parcels, supporting disabled individuals, and promoting sports for the disabled.

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Keith utilized his character, Crusader Raider, and his love for football to bring joy and support to those in need. He organized coloring competitions and literacy projects for young people, providing them with opportunities for engagement and inclusion during a time of isolation. Additionally, Keith distributed essential supplies to the homeless and families affected by poverty and unemployment in East London. He also focused on using music as a means of improving mental health and promoting participation in the community.

Keith’s dedication and contributions have not gone unnoticed. He was awarded the What a fan’ NFL fan of year award in Orlando in 2015, becoming the first non-North American recipient of the prestigious title. And in 2017, he was inducted into the Pro Footballs Ultimate Fans Association at the Hall of Fame in Canton Ohio.

Keith Smith, the Crusader Raider, exemplifies the spirit of fandom, community engagement, and charitable endeavors. His unwavering support for the Las Vegas Raiders has served as a catalyst for positive change both within the football community and in the lives of individuals across the globe. Keith’s journey showcases the power of sports fandom in making a difference and inspiring others to embrace inclusion, integration, and independence.

Well done Keith!
