A fire in Romford this morning (22 June) has destroyed a loft and part of the roof of a house.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the fire on Ainsley Avenue.

Firefighters tackled the fire at the two storey detached house with a loft conversion. The blaze destroyed all of the loft conversion and a significant part of the roof. 

The Brigade was called at 05:51 and the fire was under control by 07:43. Fire crews from Romford, Dagenham and Hornchurch fire stations attended the fire. 

The cause is being investigated.
