Emergency service members were at the scene of a suspected robbery this morning on Oldchurch Road after a man reported having his car stolen and being threatened with a corrosive substance. The incident occurred just before 1am after the suspect reported being threatened by two males in Romford.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Havering Daily:

“Police were called at approximately 00:51am on Tuesday, 20 June to reports of a suspected robbery on Old Church Road, Romford.
It was reported that the victim’s car was stolen after he was threatened by two men, with what was believed to be a corrosive substance.
Officers are investigating the incident.
Early enquiries suggest the substance involved was not corrosive.
The victim received no injuries.
There have been no arrests; enquiries continue.”
