The Rising Sun in Hornchurch to close its doors after increasing costs in maintenance.

The Rising Sun pub in Hornchurch is set to close its doors this Saturday 10 June. The pub announced its ‘last call’ last week and stated the costs of maintaining the pub have steadily risen and sadly the demand has not been able to keep pace.

The pub has been a prominent part of the Hornchurch community for many years and its departure will also mean another empty building on our high street.

The staff at the pub have expressed their sadness and their thanks to the community stating: “While the decision was mot easy to make, we look back with nothing but fondness on the years of camaraderie and community that we have enjoyed together. The laughter that rang through our halls, the friendship forged over a pint, and the countless celebrations we’ve been part of.”

Staff are asking locals to join them this Saturday for a final send off, a celebration of the times they have shared together and a heartfelt goodbye.
